Today's
Program: Robin Greene/ The Cancer Challenge 2008
Last Week's Program:
President, Jonathan Moore, led the Club with singing “America "
and saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Invocation by Biff Averitt.
Sean Keith led the singing of "Good Night, Ladies".
Rotarian John George introduced today's speaker, Ken Hatfield,
former Head Coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Ken was a
member of the National Champions 1964 Razorback football team,
coached for several years at the UofA, as well as other schools.
He has recently moved back to NWA and is now working with the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes, representing the 6 County
area. Ken grew up in Helena, where his grandfather was
Supt. of schools, and his mother played the piano for the local
Rotary club. Many years ago, he coached Little League,
where Rotarian Charles Hudson was on his team.
He spoke of
athletes as leaders, as well as his background with the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes and why he is committed to this
organization. FCA teaches student-athletes how to make a
difference and be good role models in their communities.
Among their various activities throughout the year, FCA
offers students the opportunity to play in a Christian
atmosphere during camps held throughout the summer. They
are always looking for volunteers, as well as people to sponsor
youngsters to go to camp.
